  • Keeping our teeth healthy

    Wed 18 Oct 2017

Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from Sue who works for the oral health team. She spent time with all children discussing how we can keep our teeth strong and healthy. Some classes were also treated to a workshop with Sue where we learnt about tooth brushing skills and the best types of food for healthy teeth. These children will be bringing home a new toothbrush and some toothpaste too, so, we look forward to seeing lots of sparkly smiles tomorrow at school!

  • Our new book reading scheme

    Mon 18 Sep 2017

Year six have been thoroughly enjoying our new book scheme! The children have been reading every evening and making a conscious effort to keep the books in brilliant condition. As they are the first children to ever pick up these books within our school, they have decided to write a small review at the end of the book to help others make an informed choice when choosing their next read. It makes me so excited to see children enjoy reading and there’s nothing better than picking up a brand-new book. Please feel free to tell us what you think about our new scheme by popping a little note into your child’s reading record. Thank you again for your support. Keep on reading!

  • Y6 Residential - Fire Building

    Fri 09 Jun 2017

Our final day ended on a high when the children learnt how to build a fire. This was actually trickier than it sounds. Initially the children had to gather three bundles of sticks (small for the waffle, medium to build the fire up and large to help the structure. Then they persevered with a flint to ignite the cotton wool to get it started. Once started, it was crucial to keep it going and a careful watch was needed by all team members. The children were then given a variety to culinary delights: courgettes, sausages, eggs, baked beans, mushrooms and pitta breads. With these ingredients they prepared a fantastic lunch. Some children chose to create an omelette style meal whilst others used their patience to cook individually for all team members. The children have been absolutely remarkable with one in particular, Liam Jones, showing promising culinary skills which could lead him towards a very successful career in the future!

    Thursday 8th June

Yum, yum. All up, showered, breakfasted and ready to go. Exceptional behaviour yesterday evening and great start to the day this morning. What incredible children we have. They can feel very proud about the standards they have set themselves in behaviour, determination, friendship and importantly fun!

Another exciting day at Braeside. Today we have been canoeing, pond dipping and taking the leap of faith! This evening we completed a DT challenge to build a tower out of art straws as tall as possible and which had to hold a tennis ball.... hungry work so the chicken korma dinner went down a treat with most having seconds!!

    More photos to follow tomorrow........
