Breakfast Club & Wraparound Care

Our Breakfast Club and how it runs

What is a breakfast club?

Breakfast clubs are paid for by parents and play an important role in providing before-school childcare for families where parents work or need to get other children to different schools or childcare settings.

A good breakfast club provides a safe, secure environment before school for children.  It also provides a good breakfast and a calm start to the school day.

How does Newtown’s breakfast club run?

Newtown breakfast club:

  • Runs from 7:45am until 8:30am during the term time apart from INSET days
  • Includes a good breakfast
  •  Is run by staff that the children know

How much does it cost to send my child to the breakfast club?

Each breakfast club session will cost £2.50

How do I book my child’s breakfast club sessions?

If you would like your child to attend any breakfast club sessions, please book on Scopay. Your Scopay account requires funds to be transferred in (e.g. similar to a pay as you go mobile phone) before sessions can be booked. As numbers are limited, to secure your child's place we recommend booking sessions for the whole term.

Please contact the school office if you need to register for a Scopay account.

Wraparound Care

Following a survey and feedback from our families, we are pleased to say that we will be offering wraparound care after school from September. Sally from Active Trowbridge, who currently runs our breakfast club, will be leading this. Numbers will be limited to 15 per session initially. The following sessions will be available to book your child onto:

  • Session 1 (S1) 3:15pm to 4:15pm - £4 per session

  • Session 2 (S2) 4:15pm to 5:15pm - £4 per session

If wraparound care is required for both hours, both sessions would need to be booked and the cost would be £8.

It is also possible to book your child into an after school sports club until 4:15 and only use wraparound care for the 2nd session.

How to book for Wraparound Care

If you would like your child to attend any wraparound care sessions, please book on Scopay. Your Scopay account requires funds to be transferred in (e.g. similar to a pay as you go mobile phone) before sessions can be booked.

Expectations for Breakfast Club and Wraparound Care

For the school to be able to offer a place at wraparound care or breakfast club, it is important that the expectations for wraparound care are shared and understood. As with all school activities, trips and clubs, we provide dedicated and skilled staff.  They will aim for your child to have the best experience possible during their time at breakfast club and wraparound care.

Our school is well recognised for its super behaviour. We look forward to welcoming children who will show the same super attitudes and excellent standards of behaviour that they already show within school.

As a school we do reserve the right not to offer or to withdraw a place where children’s behaviour is not of an acceptable standard.

Children are collected promptly by the end of the session. As children will be around the school site during session 1, children can only be collected from 4pm onwards. Collection point will be the school hall. If there is any change to who is picking your child up, please call and inform the office in the normal way. Unfortunately refunds for absence cannot be made.
