Oak Class (Year5/6)

Welcome to Oak Class

My name is Miss King, and I'm so excited to be the class teacher of Oak Class this year! In our classroom, we are very lucky to have the wonderful Mrs King and Mrs Slade as our teaching assistants. I am really looking forward to getting to know all of the children and sharing a fantastic year of learning together!

In Oak Class, we always strive to do our best and encourage one another to be the best we can be. We work as a team, showing kindness, respect, and support to everyone around us so that our classroom is a happy and welcoming place to be. We are always willing to have a go and understand that everyone makes mistakes. In Oak Class, we know that mistakes are a valuable part of learning and help us to improve, build confidence, and become more resilient learners. We encourage the children to challenge themselves, ask questions and never be afraid to try something new.

Some important things to remember for this year:

PE Kit: Please ensure your child has a full, named PE kit in school every day.

Reading: We strongly encourage daily reading at home. Children’s progress is tracked on a classroom display, and rewards are presented at regular milestones. Please listen to your child read regularly and record this in the back of their orange Learning Destination Book (Homework Book). We also encourage the children to write in it themselves with a sentence about what they have read.

Homework: Spelling and Maths homework will be set each Friday and will be due in on the following Friday.

I can’t wait for a fantastic year full of exciting learning, new challenges, and lots of memorable experiences in Oak Class!
