Chestnut (Year 3)

Roald Dahl with Chestnut Class!

A new year and a new term after a lovely long warm summer break. In Year 3, we have already been reading and enjoying Roald Dahl books from the The Twits to George's Marvellous Medicine!

Our class are looking forward to practicing playing the recorder with Mrs Taylor and our lovely TA, Mrs King helping us hit those notes correctly! In our art lessons we have already been developing our shading techniques and looking at various illustrators with Miss Graham.

In Year 3, we will regularly read lots  of interesting books both at home and school and generally enjoy lots of fun learning together. Keep looking on our webpage for what we are up to each term!

In class this week :

We have been starting to learn about our new topic for this term: Early Britain! We are studying the Stone, Iron and Bronze Age. In guided reading, we have been reading together and practising asking questions to improve our understanding of Early Britain. We look forward to more fun and interesting lessons on this topic.  In Numeracy, we have risen to the challenge of doubling and halving numbers up to 100 by partitioning the tens and the units. Then we shall be learning all about fractions!

In PE with Mr Briant and Mrs King, we are developing our gymnastics and tag rugby skills and sometimes being brave outside in the cold!
