Special Educational Needs (SEN)

Special Educational Needs

In September 2014, a new statutory Code of Practice for Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) was introduced by the Department for Education (DfE). The SEND reforms build on best practice and join education, health and care services, from birth to twenty five, to provide the best outcomes for children and young adults.

Local authorities have a duty to publish a Local Offer. This provides all of the services that children and young people with SEND can expect on offer in their authority. Wiltshire Council’s Local Offer can be found by following this link:

Schools are required to publish how they aim to meet the new requirements of the reforms. This is referred to as a School Information Report. Please click on the following link to open ours:

Our SENCO is Mrs Catherine Tawn and can be reached by calling the school office on 01225 752678 or by email: senco@newtown.wilts.sch.uk
