School Uniform Policy
We have a strong expectation that children attending Newtown Community Primary School will follow our Uniform and Appearance Policy.
We are very proud of the fact that the vast majority of our pupils wear the correct uniform every day, creating a very smart, purposeful look for school life.
We believe wearing the correct school uniform and having high expectations about our appearance are an important part of school life.
We believe that wearing the correct uniform;
When we are out and about wearing the correct uniform;
Girls
Grey pinafore dress, skirt or trousers
White blouse/polo shirt
Maroon school sweatshirt and/or fleece
White socks
(Summer)
Red and white Gingham summer dress (optional)
Boys
Black/Grey trousers
White polo shirt
Maroon sweatshirt and/or fleece
White or grey socks
(Summer)
Grey or black trousers or shorts
White polo shirt
Shoes
Children should wear a sensible style in black, brown or navy. High heels or trainers will not be allowed in the interest of safety and hygiene.
P.E. KIT
For P.E. sessions the children must have a change of clothing for hygiene and safety reasons. The P.E. kit consists of:
A pair of black shorts,
A white T shirt.
A pair of suitable trainers/plimsolls
Grey hoodie (optional)
During the winter months we will still aim to have PE outside when weather permits. Children can where Dark coloured jogging bottoms and a dark fleece during winter PE.

Trunks/Swimming costume - (no bikinis or Bermuda shorts)

Extremes of fashion
Extremes of fashion are not acceptable or appropriate for school, either in clothes, footwear, jewellery, hair style or hair accessories.
Where children are wearing inappropriate jewellery or hair accessories they will be asked to remove them.
The school may contact you if your child is regularly not wearing the school uniform.
Jewellery
The only items of jewellery allowed are simple stud earrings, no more than one in each ear.
For health and safety reasons all jewellery must be removed for PE lessons and sports based clubs.
Hair Cut & Styles
Not dyed
No shaved patterns or lines
All long hair tied back with a suitable hair tie, appropriate for school.
