Welcome to the FONS page

We organise events, get togethers, etc, in order to raise funds for the school.

New members are always welcome but if you feel you cannot commit full time, any help offered is most appreciated.

On behalf of FONS (Friends of Newtown School) we would like to thank everyone for their support this year!

We have held some very successful events in 2025 raising money for the school, finishing the year off with the Christmas Fayre! It was lovely to see everyone having fun, and lots of smiles on little faces!  Father Christmas commented  that he thinks Newtown children are the politest children he has ever met! 

A big thank you to everyone who donated, helped at the fayre and came to support us. From the fayre and parent presents, we raised a wonderful total of £1,632.00 which will go towards helping the school in 2026. A special thank you to the teachers, school staff and TAs who helped to run stalls and donated raffle prizes, as well as a big thank you to the local  businesses who very kindly donated raffle prizes. Finally, thank you to our wonderful elves Linda, Sue and Frida who have shopped, wrapped, made countless trips to school and back and work so hard behind the scenes at these events.

New bikes, scooters and tricycles!

Willow class have been lucky enough to receive some new scooters, bikes and tricycles from our Friends of Newtown (FONS). Developing our physical skills is an important part of the time the children spend in the early years and supports with creating healthy habits for the future. Over the years, our bikes and tricycles have been well used and therefore have started breaking down and needed replacing. The Friends of Newtown have very kindly donated some new equipment for the children using money raised through our school fundraising. Events such as the summer fayre, Easter bingo and school cinema nights are the reason that things like this are able to happen. We greatly appreciate the support of our school community with these events and fundraising activities. Here are some pictures of the new Willow class children absolutely loving their new equipment!
